Purchase a tote bag featuring the mixed media "Czardas -- #2 Hungarian Rhapsody series" by Jayne Somogy.   Our tote bags are made from soft, durable, poly-poplin fabric and include a 1" black strap for easy carrying on your shoulder.   All seams are double-stitched for added durability.   Each tote bag is machine-washable in cold water and is printed on both sides using the same image.

Artist's Description

No. 2 in my series, "Hungarian Rhapsody"--a whimsical nod to my Hungarian roots expressed as musical works. The Czardas is the folk dance of Hungary; its name comes from the word for tavern. I can remember doing this dance at family weddings when I was a kid. The Hungarian folk costume has a skirt that is HUGE, with lots of petticoats--and my girl here is showing off hers (& this comes from an actual photo of this pose).

Art, like life, should SPARKLE! I sign my work 'SOMOGYI' the ethnically-correct version of my Hungarian surname, and I often incorporate my signature into the design of the art itself. I earned a degree in theater from the U. of Wisconsin, an additional degree, summa cum laude, in fashion design from FIDM/Los Angeles, and turned to creating art seriously in 2014 upon retiring from jobs in office administration and free time spent dancing, singing and acting.
