Artist's Description
This is a portrait of an individual with microcephaly, a neurological disorder where the head and brain are abnormally small, which is caused by the Zika virus. These individuals sometimes are developmentally disabled and in the early part of the 20th century they were often employed as "freaks" in sideshows. However, the sideshow gave them a purpose in life and the sideshow folk often became their surrogate family.

I create whimsical, graphic, stylized, often Asian-inspired & sometimes jeweled or embellished interpretations of people, animals, ethnic subjects, objects/still lifes.
