Description
I think a geisha can become a mermaid, don’t you? In my fantasy world, Japanese geishas exist as mermaids, and this is what they look like, as she swims in her underworld sea. I have drawn my geisha in the traditional Japanese style, and placed her in a whimsical undersea world of coral reefs, stylized waves and swimming goldfish. FYI, there are more than 30 separately cut pieces of paper/cardboard that make up this piece; each had to be carefully designed, drawn & cut carefully to fit one to the other. Only the geisha’s face, hand, hair and white collar are painted, all the rest is collage work.
