This is #5 in my "Famous Flirts" series and depicts Gypsy Rose Lee (1911-1970), arguably the world's most famous burlesque striptease artist, with her performances always emphasizing the "tease" and less on the "strip." She was the subject of the very famous Broadway musical "Gypsy," which starred Natalie Wood in the movie version. This piece has well over 200 3mm (tiny!) hot pink rhinestones--each glued on meticulously one by one—in addition to large rhinestones as her headpiece and necklace, the marabou feathers and 2 sparkly vintage rhinestone pins. And, as a glitter-addicted belly dance and burlesque performer myself, I think this might be my most favorite piece I've ever done!
