Artist's Description

This is a whimsical portrait of a Burmese woman carrying a child on her back--and she has dozens of brass neck rings that have stretched her neck to an extravagant length, and a most compelling and captivating smile! This is one of my favorite pieces because of that smile, and the baby peeking around her shoulder. One of my artistic goals is to present and preserve the various indigenous cultures and peoples around the world, many of whom are in danger of becoming "extinct."

Art, like life, should SPARKLE! I sign my work 'SOMOGYI' the ethnically-correct version of my Hungarian surname, and I often incorporate my signature into the design of the art itself. I earned a degree in theater from the U. of Wisconsin, an additional degree, summa cum laude, in fashion design from FIDM/Los Angeles, and turned to creating art seriously in 2014 upon retiring from jobs in office administration and free time spent dancing, singing and acting.
