Description
This is No. 3 from my series entitled "Famous Flirts"--a surrealistic yet whimsical portrait of Catherine Howard (1521-1542), the fifth wife (of 6) of King Henry VIII of England. She was ordered beheaded by Henry, ostensibly for adultery. He was 48, and impotent, and she was about 19 or 20.
This painting recently received an "Honorable Mention" in the Period Costumes contest here on FAA.
Acrylics, rhinestones, acrylic jewels, jewelry parts, beaded lace & paper collage on canvas.

I love your whole flirtatious series Jayne! At 1st I thought this one was Ann Boleyn, but read your description it's the other beheaded Tudor queen Catherine Howard (Who I believe was a cousin to the Boleyns?) Such entertaining pieces and wonderful use of mixed media, wow! V/Fave/twt @BoomerPamela_TX :) Pamela
Jayne Somogy replied:
Thank you SO much, Pamela--it's so wonderful when you find someone who "gets" you & what you're trying to do! And thanks, too, for the great promotion.
